Pinky our guinea pig was found dead in his hutch today. Very sad. Hermione was very sad. It's the first pet she has ever taken any real responsibility for. I was sad and relieved. I always feel slightly uncomfortable about caged animals and used to worry about how it felt when it looked out on the cats, hens and bunny roaming freely.
At Hermione's request he was buried in the garden in a pink flowered cardboard plastic/box. The box won't rot down so Craig has the job of digging it up again tonight when she is asleep and doing something more appropriate with it. Oh, the joys of being a parent!
Craig suggested putting it in the compost as he had apparently heard on Gardeners Question Time on Radio 4 of a man who took a road kill deer home for his compost and it enriched the compost a lot. There's no way I'm having Pinky in the compost!

Awwww at one point we had quite a few g.p's + rabbit and hamsters. Z always got very upset when one died.
