Unplugged Project - books

The theme for this weeks Unplugged Project was books. We decided to make some mini books.

We watched a youtube clip to give us some practical hints.

I prepared one in advance, a simple picture book about bikes, just to get us started.

Hermione prepared lots, mainly about our pets, none of which I have managed to capture well with the camera.

Miles joined in too making lots of little sparkly books.

I've come across instructions for making mini books before but they've always been a bit trickier than this. This method is really quick and simple. Hermione mastered it quite quickly although they can be a bit rough around the edges if the folds aren't exact. Good fun. I suspect we will incorporate some mini book making into some of our projects from now on.

Edited to add - my runner beans are dead *sob*. Killed by frost.

Two minutes silence for your beans.... How sad after all your work. Isn't our British weather lovely?

I know, I should have waited to plant them out really. Did you manage to salvage any of your seeds after your greenhouse disaster?

My son is really into making books so I like to see how everyone else makes books so I can get some new ideas. These look fun.

What an interesting video. I was not familiar with that method of making books. I love her creative variations too. Looks like you and the children had a lot of fun this week. We'll have to try this too! (So sorry about your beans. I am eager to start planting some flowers but am afraid of frost.)

I managed to salvage all but the lettuce, but as I had more lettuce seeds left I've redone them, not enough room in my mini-greenhouse now, I've got loads more seeds to sow!!

I'm pleased you managed to salvage most. I replanted my runner beans today :-). Just so irritating when you have to start over again isn't it.
